"Snow Seasons" at the Novosibirsk Expocentre

On January 15-17 the Novosibirsk Expocentre will host several events devoted to creating comfortable living conditions for people in snow-covered areas.

The World Snow Forum, whichwas first held in 2013, became a landmark of the Novosibirsk Region, having received high appreciation of the project guests and participants. Over 3,000 people from 31 countries took part in this Forum.

Experts of the World Snow Forum will discuss issues of climate changes, urban management in the wintertime, and area promotion – certain issues of winter cities and towns.     

Glaciology Symposium will feature over 100 specialists from Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Sochi, Tomsk, Barnaul, Irkutsk, Yakutsk, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Kirovsk, experts from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Switzerland, Israel, China, and USA. Topics to be discussed at the symposiuminclude “Evolution of Earth’s Cryosphere”, “Glaciarization of the Caucasus and the Altai Mountains”.  The glaciology symposium will be presided over by Vladimir Kotlyakov – Russian glaciologist and geographer, member of the Russian Academy of Science, Director of the Russian Academy of Science Geography Institute. The symposium will be operating on January 15-17.

On January 16 the winter session of Marketing Specialist Assembly “Siberia. Marketing. Young People” will take place. Assembly participants will discuss development of tourism in Siberia and the use of marketing tools for area development. Representatives of the Siberian Transport University, the Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University, the Novosibirsk State Technical University, the Novosibirsk State Economics and Management University will present their projects of boosting tourist activities in the Siberian Region at the open contest of students’ works.

Visitors of the specialty exhibition “Industry of Snow-Covered Areas” will be able to see various tourism development solutions that are used today or will be applied in the future.

Various cultural entertainment activities await the guests and visitors of the “snow events”. 

On January 15 at 2.00 P.M., the ceremony of awarding the participants of the “Siberian Fairytale” exposition will take place. The list of the event participants will include the children from the Oyash Home for the Disabled.   

On January 16 from 12.00 to 4.00 P.M., outdoor area of the Novosibirsk Expocentre International Exhibition Complex will host the “Siberian Winter” Festival. Fans of snowmobile tourism can take part in snowmobile races, exciting competitions, take photos with Husky dogs, and have a great time.    

On January 15 and 16, from 6.00 to 20.00 P.M., the main stage of the exhibition hall will host concert program “Panorama “55 and Above”. This event will feature leading ethnic and folklore bands of Russia including “Markell’s Voices”, “Yarga Sound System” from Petrozavodsk, which uses traditional folk instruments combined with cutting-edge electronic technologies, the band “Saina” from Yakutia, which performs traditional folk songs of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) etc. Entrance to the event is free of charge.

The World Snow Forum was organized by “Siberia EXPO” Exhibition Company. General partner of the event is the “Ural Factory of Anti-Icing Materials”. The World Snow Forum is held as part of the Snow Seasons.

Plenary session called “Steady Development of Snow-Covered Areas” will become the central event of the project.
