The 10th Anniversary International Exhibition and Scientific Congress Interexpo Geo Siberia -2014’ opened at the Novosibirsk Expo Centre.

The Exhibition features over 80 companies, and the scientific congress includes 230 participating organizations from 20 countries of the world as well as representatives from 25 regions of Russia and the international academic community. Total amount of foreign participants of the Exhibition and Scientific Congress ‘Interexpo Geo Siberia -2014’ equals more than 50 people.

According to the event organizer, the Siberian State Geodesic Academy, 10 years of work allowed the forum to achieve a high organization level as well as attract a wide range of qualified experts. Interexpo Geo Siberia is constantly supported by the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG), International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS), International Cartographic Association (ICA), German Union of Surveyors (DVWe. V.), and other foreign associations.

President of the Siberian State Geodesic Academy and Head of the Interexpo Geo Siberia Alexander Karpik spoke about the important role of Interexpo Geo Siberia and the foreign experts participating in the Exhibition and scientific congress in his welcoming speech.

‘A way that is 10 years long encompasses rich history of forming and developing the geodesic survey sphere of the Russian Federation. Our foreign partners who actively participate in all events of the forum share their immeasurable experience with us. I’d like to emphasize that the initial financing which helped create this project was provided by the German Union of Surveyors. Support from international organizations testifies to the international renown of one of Russia’s largest forums with rich history. It’s nice to note that ‘Geo Siberia’ became a platform used for holding international forums in the CIS countries and the Asian part of the continent initiated by the Academy and its partners. During these years our common efforts have been aimed at forming the professional potential of the many international specialists that allow creating and implementing modern models of geo-spatial support for sustainable development of territories at global and local levels’, emphasized Alexander Karpik.  The opening Ceremony of theInterexpo Geo Siberia -2014 featured President of the International Federation of Surveyors ChiHai Teo. He gave a welcoming speech to the participants of the Forum.

‘It is great honor for me to take part in this congress and exhibition. Your Exhibition has really turned into an International Forum – it is well known both in Russia and abroad. We are proud of being able to participate in this event and of supporting it for 10 years. Members of the International Federation of Surveyors admit the importance of integrating such sciences as geodesy, cadastral survey, land management, and other related sciences. This allows us to develop our future world in the right direction. We understand that our sciences, technologies, and their implementation are more than just ideas, devices or software, they can also be attractive or useful to open up a storehouse of knowledge about our society, the environment, and economy thus contributing to sustainable development of our territories. Access to data and their distribution can boost work efficiency of governments, economic development, environmental management, centralized service provision to residents of urban areas’, noted Mr. ChiHai Teo. The program of the Exhibition and Scientific Congress‘Interexpo Geo Siberia -2014’ is rather extensive. The participants of panel discussions, seminars, and conferences will discuss opportunities provided by operational services and geoportals that allow for effective territory management, find optimum algorithms for constructing and maintaining road networks based on the wider use of 3D design of roads, as well as speak about modern state and future development of active stations in the ground structure of GLONASS/GPS infrastructureand the strategy of developing the international education space.

The 10th International Exhibition and Scientific Congress ‘Interexpo Geo Siberia -2014’ will be held until April 18, 2014.
