FrauBlau is a duo of designers Philip Blau and his wife Helena Blaunstein. Their clothing brand was founded in 2002. The designers opened their first clothes shop in 2006, today they own a world-famous network of FrauBlau boutiques. In the first collection made by Philip and Helena in 2007, the designers used ‘trompe-l'œil’ technique (French for ‘optical illusion’) aimed at creating the illusion of a three-dimensional space, even though the object itself is a 2D drawing. This technique allows turning one piece of clothing into a completely different garment. Since then the duo has been actively developing this trend.

The designers created a ‘perfectly suited’ coat, which is actually drawn on a comfortable tricot  T-shirt, a voluminous knitted dress that can be worn in warm weather because it is also just a drawing. Then Philip was captured by the idea of creating clothes from materials that in reality are never used for making pieces of clothing. For example, dresses made of huge beads or crystals, tinted glass, pearls etc.

Special collection prepared by the designers for Russia includes a ‘fur coat’ with printed fur, a ‘coat’ with a fox fur neckpiece and a ‘fur shawl’.

The new collection presented by Philip Blau as part of the ‘Textile and Fashion. Autumn 2013’ Exhibition organized by ITE Siberian Fair at the Novosibirsk Expocentre will soon be demonstrated in at the London Fashion Week. Besides, all visitors could learn about the origin and the perception of prints in modern fashion during the workshop conducted by the designer.
