On glass painting, safe glass, and patience – Dmitriy Logachev, Head of “Glass. Tools. Technologies” training courses.

“Today we present a school of glass painting right here and invite those who are eager to learn. Glass is a very ‘obedient’ material – you can, of course, cut or prick your fingers, if you work carelessly but don’t be afraid of that. Painting glass is three millimeters thick, soft under a glasscutter. It doesn’t require much effort. It only requires delicacy and patience. The soldered stained glass technique makes use of glass and a soldering iron. Some stained glass pieces are absolutely safe, they are made of film that is glued on the base. The most important thing here is good materials.

Baked glass is where true mastery begins. You need a 900 degree furnace. And you know right from the start that the glass should be baked for ten minutes at a temperature of 600 degrees. Learning these skills is simple and easy if you have the passion for it. Glass is an eternal material, it doesn’t get dull. And the art of glass making is very ancient”.

On patchwork, quilting, and cross-stitch embroidery – Irina Gronskaya, PR-Director of Logos Company Group.

“Having such exhibitions is necessary. Creating this cozy space where like minds get together to share their ideas is extremely important. Working with fabric calms you down. The thing is that this type of craft also continues developing. New materials and technologies keep emerging all the time. Today we have embroidery on prints, accompanied by computer embroidery and even 3D effects.

There’s been a considerable interest in hand-made products lately among craftspeople and buyers. Hand- made is a popular trend observed in clothes and interior. Our exhibition stand features modern materials. We are used to associating crafts with quilting and our grandmothers, but this stereotype is not exactly correct. Nowadays this technique is very popular and very much in demand among young people.

People keep rethinking clothes concepts. We are currently encountering huge interest in individual clothing style, sewing techniques, interesting fabrics. New technologies and trends are appearing. Today patchwork or quilting are more popular than ever. We conducted a contest among craftspeople: handed out equal pieces of fabric and asked them to create a decorative panel picture using quilting technique devoted to Maslenitsa (Russian spring festival week). And then awarded our participants various prizes.

A few kids came up to our stand but we’d like to see more of them. We organized a real fashion show for children. All girls like to dress up dolls. There are special kits on sale with toy models and toy patterns that allow creating a nice set of clothing. That is not just pleasure. That’s understanding your own style and taste.
