Last weekend the Novosibirsk Expo Centre International Exhibition Complex became a place for a hot contest again. The best drifters from Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Tomsk, Irkutsk, and Novokuznetsk were struggling for two days to earn points at the championship. The racers tried to impress referees and spectators with their skillful driving along the track.

According to the information provided by the event organizer, the Novosibirsk Automobile Federation, the second stage of the Russian Drift Series – Siberia is a contest that belongs to one of the most prestigious series in Russia. The participants say that the conducted contest became a historical moment, since no other sports events with such a status (Russian Drift Series – Siberia) has ever been conducted in Novosibirsk before.

The contest featured 32 pilots in total, 10 of them were from Krasnoyarsk, who eventually became the winners of the 2nd stage.

The experts say that several Krasnoyarsk drifters are top pilots on an all-Russian scale. For example, Georgy Chivchyan (called simply Gocha by his friends) became the Winner at the Drift Championship of Russia in 2013. Therefore, the victory of racers from Krasnoyarsk was no surprise.

The sportsmen from Novosibirsk, to their fans’ regret, did not take any medal places at the Russian Drift Series – Siberia contest. According to sports commissioner Anna Gorokhova, the Novosibirsk drifters lacked sports experience needed to win the contest. Their results are also affected by the absence of a permanently accessible training track.

We remind you thatthe Novosibirsk Expo Centre International Exhibition Complex has already hosted drift contests this year. On May 10 the first stage of the annual ‘Capital of SiberiaCup’Drift Championship took place. And on May 31 the Novosibirsk Automobile Federation Cupcontest was conducted.
